Our Story
Ma Esther Kitchen began in Liberia, West Africa, where I was a little girl watching my mother cook. I was amazed by everything she did — the way she moved, the flavors she created — and it inspired me more than I knew at the time.
My friends and I would go off to play, and we'd cook right along with the grown-ups in our own way: opening up cans to make little pots, building fires from wood, making our own charcoal, and cooking up whatever we could imagine.
At 12 years old, I moved to America with my family — and I brought all of that with me. It stuck. Now I'm in my 30s with two kids of my own, and I still do what I've always done: watching people, learning, taking inspiration from the good things I see, and pouring it all into my own culture and my own food.
That's Ma Esther Kitchen — a lifetime of love for cooking, from my mother's kitchen in Liberia to yours.
